Community Conference Watch^� is a user-friendly and easy-to-understand newsletter that was created to assist our readers in understanding what goes on at scientific conferences and how information presented at these conferences is used. We will also try to increase understanding of the ins and outs of clinical trial results by incrementally introducing and defining basic terms and ideas and by discussing more advanced facets of trial design that may affect the reliability of results. To achieve this end, Community Conference Watch^� editors select samples of clinical trial results presented at recent, major HIV and hepatitis science conferences to illustrate topics, provide some discussion and TRIAL WATCH^� commentary for each. Examples of trials contained in this premier issue are from the VII International Congress on Drug Therapy in HIV Infection from Glasgow, Scotland.
